The Explorers, Isle of Skye
Description
Probably my favourite place on the Isle of Skye is Sligachan.
The location is a true assault on the senses, and photos rarely do justice.
There is a sense of openness and even smallness in just standing on the Sligachan Old Bridge and breathing in that landscape.
And to top all of this off is my favourite statue of all time - the Explorers (John Mackenzie and Norman Collie).
As a person who really doesn't like statue placement in an untouched landscape, this is the one which made me truly change my opinion.
The story of Collie and Mackenzie is both inspiration and touching, but I'll leave that story for another day...
In the meantime, I simply have this photo of the statue of the Explorers 10.00when the light was dramatic and a heavy shower was passing over.
